Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about renting a car in Iceland — pricing, policies, pickup and more.

How are your prices so low?

We compare and bring competition to the car rental business in Iceland. We make sure that our partners are reliable as well as offer great prices. In our search engine you can compare vehicle types and prices to make sure you get the best deal.

How old do I need to be to rent a car?

The age varies between suppliers. Some offer as young as 18 years old, while others offer only rentals to those over 20 years of age. You can find information about this on the booking site as you choose your rental vehicle.

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is 24 hours.

Is there a fuel policy?

Yes, there is a "Full/Full" policy where you pick up the rental with a full tank of gas and return it the same. Some suppliers offer a fuel discount card which lowers the fuel per liter price for those long drives.

How do I find the cheapest car rental deals?

We work with over 30 rental companies to make sure you have a great selection of pricing. With us you can compare the prices between local rental companies in Iceland and we pride ourselves with having the lowest prices.

What is included in my rental price?

CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), unlimited mileage, 24% local VAT and free amendments to your booking are all included.

Where do I pick up and drop off my rental car?

That varies between our suppliers. Most are located just next to Keflavík International Airport and all offer free airport transportation to and from the airport.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. You can cancel and receive a full refund for your rental vehicle if you cancel more than 48 hours prior to your pickup. After the 48 hour window you will not be eligible for a refund.

Can I use my foreign driver's license in Iceland?

Yes. Make sure your domestic license is written in English/Roman letters. If your license is written in Slavic, Chinese, Arabic or another non-Latin alphabet, you must bring an international driver's license.

How long do I need to have held my driver's license?

Most suppliers require the driver to have held their license for over 12 months. Some suppliers do not enforce this rule and that is stated as you book your vehicle in the additional information.
